The Sunshine Association is a progressive non-profit organisation dedicated to the development and inclusion of children with disabilities and developmental delays. Their mission is to provide early intervention, therapeutic services, and support for children and their families across various communities in South Africa.
Founded in 1976 by Sylvia Langenhoven and a group of concerned mothers, the Sunshine Association began as a small playgroup offering early intervention and stimulation for children with disabilities while supporting their parents. Over the years, it has grown into a comprehensive organisation offering day care, home-based support, youth and sibling programmes, volunteer opportunities, and training programmes.
Therapeutic Services
Children receive specialized assessments and support from physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and social workers. Therapeutic seating and adapted equipment are used to maximize development and independence.
How You Can Support
The Sunshine Association relies on donations and volunteer support to continue providing these essential services. Contributions help ensure that children with disabilities receive the care, stimulation, and opportunities they need to thrive.
